Aquifer controls trigger Carnarvon Water release

By October 28, 2016 No Comments

Extra water will be made available to Carnarvon irrigators to support water budgets for 2016-17.

The Carnarvon Water Allocation Advisory Committee, based on the Department of Water’s aquifer status report and other information, has recommended the department release water for distribution if required with a target date of 1st December 2016.

This recommendation is supported by Carnarvon Growers Association and the Gascoyne Water Cooperative, which will distribute the water sourced from the irrigation Scheme Supply (Subarea B-L).

This would be a good time for growers to evaluate their current water use and future water requirements in light of the impending Low Aquifer Storage declaration and plan to ensure they have the right quantities of water to finish off crops this summer.
